My name is Sam DeBord. I am a real estate broker in Seattle. I am not an SEO professional. I have done some web development and technology consulting in the past, but my experience in tech has taught me that you don’t need experience to do good SEO. You just need to focus on the three basic ideas presented here.
Why should you believe me? I do the SEO for SeattleHome.com, SeattleCondo.com, and many other websites. We compete with the big boys for #1 rankings in all of the search terms: ”Seattle homes”, “Seattle real estate listings”, “Seattle waterfront homes”, “Seattle condos for sale”, etc.
Our company derives the vast majority of our income from online web traffic. We sell tens of millions of dollars of real estate every year. Organic Google searches bring in 2/3 of our traffic. We’re not tricky. We’re not sneaky. We don’t have a secret recipe. We just follow the basics of good, strategic, honest SEO and drive it home every day.
It is simple. It isn’t easy. It still takes hard work. Everything that makes big money takes hard work. You don’t need any experience to do good SEO, though. If you’re willing to be diligent and focused, you’ll find you can compete with much larger companies for your place in search engine results.
Can you get a top ranking for “Luxury Real Estate”? Probably not. We have to be realistic. Only a few people can get a huge, generic topic like this, and many have very deep pockets.
However, you can get a top ranking for “Walla Walla Luxury Homes”. Or, you could be ranked #3 for “Steel Widgets in Walla Walla”. Find your niche, stick to the plan, and go get some web traffic.
By the way, that’s not the ultimate goal. You still have to convert your traffic to sales. That’s another topic for another day. Go SEO.
